How we work

In business, the “one-size-fits-all” approach rarely works out — and that’s especially true where SMEs are concerned. Because of this, everything we do is tailored to our clients’ specific needs. This shapes the way we work. Here’s an overview of our process:

Needs Analysis

Our team of expert consultants will sit down with your leadership to discuss areas for improvement, and to determine what has worked well in the past and what hasn’t. We’ll then analyze this preliminary information and use it to define a scope of work.

Scope of Work

Based on our discussion of your needs, Sovran HR’s team will prepare a comprehensive Statement of Work that clearly defines the project: roles, deadlines, milestones, and deliverables. If an ongoing engagement is required, we’ll provide a clear statement of roles and responsibilities so that you’ll know what to expect from month to month.

Diagnosis Audit

At this stage, we’ll take a much more granular look at the relevant historical data, metrics, KPIs, and files. The goal here is to provide an accurate, quantifiable benchmark that we can use to measure the current vs. the desired state.

Proposed Solution(s)

We give you a clear, actionable, and prioritized list of steps to take that will move your organization to the desired state as quickly as possible. Any solution that we offer will also address best practices and current compliance gaps, and will include a detailed timeline for implementation.


If you like, we can help you with the implementation of the solution as well. This includes everything up to and including full implementation, as well as help with training or transitioning your teams.

Founder & CEO

Barry Kamrad is an experienced executive who worked in several industries: aviation, hospitality, IT, professional services and telecom.  Prior to starting his own businesses, he held various positions at a number of leading companies, including Vie de France, MCI (now part of Verizon), AT&T, and IBM.

Barry enjoyed his time in the corporate world, but his true passion has always been helping leaders to solve their talent management problems and to build principled workplaces. He founded Sovran HR as a specialized HR consultancy serving SMEs that are growing fast and that are committed to ethics-based leadership.

Senior Advisor & Consultant

Quintin Guinn is a true HR professional. He has over 30 years of experience in the industry, with a focus on organizational training, development, and project management.

In his current role, he manages the day-to-day functions of Sovran HR and develops winning strategies for the company’s clients. He has helped numerous SMEs improve retention and boost profitability through human capital enhancement. A thought leader in his field, Quintin has been a featured speaker at numerous HR conferences and conventions over the years.

Senior HR Consultant

Jaime Lopez brings over 20 years of business experience and acumen to Sovran HR. She has helped organizations with annual revenues ranging from $5M to $2 billion, and with teams of 20 to 500 employees. She has served various industries, including Professional Services, Bio-Tech, Construction, Wholesale, Retail, Engineering, and Manufacturing.

Jaime balances her business expertise with a focus on bottom-line results. She has helped clients with talent acquisition, HR process automation, strategic growth, HR Ops, and best practices training and development. Always eager to help companies build their culture and individual team members have an impact, Jaime has been instrumental in making our clients “the best place to work”!
